I've come to the conclusion that the bulk of humanity are idiots.
I was volunteering down at the DHR today, and Don Bellamy decided that I should be the motorman for a round trip, which pleased me GREATLY! Let's face it folks, I am a nerd. However, I'm willing to bet that ALL of you would enjoy driving a 100 year old interurban tram. Ha! So there.
Anyways, we were clanking along just splendidly when we came up to a crossing. I braked, and blew the appropriate whistle signal: two long, one short, one long. Anyways, we're coming closer, and I see this woman pushing a stroller right on the tracks. She didn't see us, nor did she hear us apparently, which is freakin' increadible! How on EARTH can you NOT notice a thirty ton train barrelling down to wards you 50 feet away?!?!? HOW?!?!?! Gah... Anyways, I slam on the brakes to 'emergency', so the car SLAMS to a halt. All the while I've been leaning on the whistle, and SHE DOESN'T EVEN LOOK UP!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, about 5 minutes later, we're turni ng a bend, and there's this little pedestrian crossing. This is all fine and dandy. What is not so fine and dandy is that there's this idiot skater who's decided that he's going to try and race the crossing. Such is a normal occurance, however he reall y took the cake. He got off his skateboard and just STOOD THERE, ON THE TRACKS, GRINNING!!!!!!!! Once again, slam on 'emergency', we come shuddering to a halt. Gah...
Stupid large bodies of water. *sighs* I hate them. They kicked me AND my dog.
